How far can magnetic force reach?
A magnet can move some objects without touching them.
Start the experience01
What should you look for?
What moved without contact?
- 01The interaction weakens
- 02It stays exactly the same
- 03Every material is attracted
02
Why does this happen?
Fields describe force at a distance
A magnetic field is a model for how magnetic force can act through space without direct contact.
Materials and poles respond differently
Opposite poles attract and like poles repel; only some materials respond strongly to a magnet.
Field lines are a visual model, not physical strings.
03
Move it before reading the answer
Compare a paper clip and another magnet. Field lines are a model you can reveal.
