How do seeds travel to a new place?
Wings, hooks, fluff, and floating shells send seeds along different paths.
Start the experience01
What should you look for?
How did structure change the route?
- 01Hooks
- 02Air-filled shell
- 03Flat wing only
02
Why does this happen?
Structures match transport processes
Fluff and wings interact with air, hooks attach externally to animals, and buoyant coverings can travel by water.
Farther is not always better
Successful dispersal depends on reaching conditions where a seed can survive and grow, not simply maximizing distance.
Paths are illustrative and do not predict a real seed’s travel distance.

Move it before reading the answer
Choose dandelion, maple, burdock, or coconut and follow its wind, animal, or water path.
